Main areas of involvement in the low carbon transport agenda
ITM Power designs and manufactures Hydrogen Energy Systems for Energy Storage and Clean Fuel production.
ITM Power is committed to clean sustainable energy solutions based around water electrolysis. Our principal motivation is to engineer zero-carbon hydrogen energy systems that provide energy security and independence from fossil fuels.
ITM's electrolyser and fuel cell technologies have the potential to become the cornerstones of a future hydrogen economy based on 'green' hydrogen. Our hydrogen systems are able to convert renewable energy to a clean fuel, that can be indefinitely stored for use in transport.
Current or future activities / projects / initiatives in which ITM Power is involved in to encourage low carbon transport.
ITM Power is trailling its refuelling technology, HFuel, with commercial logistics companies in 2011. The hydrogen on site trials (HOST)comprises the operation and refueling of two Revolve Technologies hydrogen Ford Transit vehicles, with hydrogen produced on site at the point of use, at sites operated by participating companies from diverse logistics sectors, including London Stansted Airport, DHL Supply Chain, Forestry Commission, Center Parcs, RAC, Scottish & Southern Energy, Scottish Water, Scottish Police Services Authority, Vestas Wind Turbines, Local Authorities, Enterprise plc, Amey,Tarmac, Volker Highways, May Gurney, Commercial Group, and Autoglass.
